Art

Today A was telling me what he wants to be when he grows up. He has said for a long time that he wants to be a cement mixer driver. That was what he said today...then he kept going... "Oooo, and a fire man guy...Oooo, and a race car driver...Ooo, and a plumber...and a garbage man...and a bird...No, just kidding, an airplane driver." He paused for a moment and said, "Do I have to be just one guy?" Ambitious little fella'.

We are so impressed at the progress he has made in preschool this year. He loves going to Ms. Val's Montessori school up the hill and has learned to read and write. Mind you, he is four, so his reading is slow, and his writing is even slower. And he often has to take breaks in between pages to run off that steam that is ever present, just below the surface and ready to blow at any moment.

They also learn about a new continent each month in school. His geography knowledge is much better than mine. I wonder why they don't teach geography in school until later? It's amazing what that kid knows about South America! They learned about Africa in April. I was in the classroom the other morning while one of his classmates was doing some map work with Africa. When she said, "Morocco", A and another classmate of his started giggling and saying "Morocco-bama, that sounds like Barak Obama."
What a big boy!
He is also still busy writing lyrics to songs. They are always spontaneous and he never sings the same song twice. His latest song is a short one and goes like this:

"You drive with cars
And you play with toys
And you become a big boy"
