And another view of the backyard. Today it was in the fifties and ALL of the snow in the front yard is gone. The back has melted to a few inches. This will give the plants a nice head start before the drought hits them this summer. Hopefully this is the last of the snow for the season, but you never know, it is South Dakota.Saturday, May 3, 2008
May Blizzard
It's so nice that Spring has finally started to show its face around here. Trees are starting to bud, my forsythia is finally blooming, and plants are peeking out of the ground. Too bad the weather didn't get the memo! I'm sure you heard about our Spring blizzard here yesterday. It was crazy. Everything was closed, so we had a snow day. Perfect timing for a three day weekend. We got a foot of snow in about 12 hours. Here's a photo of the deck furniture buried.
And here's a view of the backyard drifted over. There was a drift a few feet high right outside this door. These photos were taken with a few hours of the storm left, so the snow continued to pile up after this even. My forsythia is at the top left corner of the picture(it's young). The yellow blossoms are cocooned in white.
The side door with a drift of snow against it. (This is a new door too, and we haven't painted that trim yet)
